How to add inline images and videos in articles?

The Article section in Solo includes a Rich Text Editor that lets you mix text with images and videos. Instead of placing media only at the top of an article, you can insert images and videos anywhere within your text to illustrate specific points, break up long passages, or show step-by-step visuals alongside your writing.

To get started, open the Article section editor by hovering over the Article section in the designer and clicking Edit section. The text area toolbar includes icons for inserting images and videos directly into your content.

Adding an image

  1. Place your cursor in the text where you want the image to appear.

  2. Click the image icon in the toolbar.

  3. Upload an image or choose one from Unsplash.

  4. The image is inserted inline within your text at a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Once the image is placed, you can toggle between two display modes:

  • Fill — crops the image to completely fill the frame. Best for photos and stock images where some cropping is acceptable.
  • Fit — scales the image to fit within the frame without cropping. Best for logos, book covers, or images where you need to see the full content.

To learn more about when to use each option, see When to use image Fill vs. Fit?.

Replacing an image

To swap an existing inline image, click on it and select Replace. You can then upload a new image or pick a different one from Unsplash.

Adding a video

  1. Place your cursor in the text where you want the video to appear.

  2. Click the video icon in the toolbar.

  3. Paste a link to your video (e.g. from YouTube or Vimeo).

  4. The video is embedded inline within your article text.

Embedded videos allow visitors to watch content directly on your page without leaving your website.

Replacing a video

To change an existing inline video, click on it and select Replace, then paste a new video link.
