How do I add WhatsApp to my website?

To link to WhatsApp from Solo:

WhatsApp's Click to Chat feature allows you to create a link that opens a chat window with your business number.

Basic link (no pre-filled message):

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=1234567890

Replace 1234567890 with your full phone number in international format (no plus signs, spaces, brackets, or dashes).

Link with a pre-filled message:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=1234567890&text=Hi,%20welcome%20to%20[Business%20Name]!%20Let%27s%20chat.

Replace:

  • 1234567890 with your number
  • %20 for spaces
  • The text after &text= with your custom message. You may need to "URL-encode" your message which you can do at URLEncoder.
  1. Visit the designer
  2. In the top toolbar, click Sections
  3. From the right Sections sidebar, click the pencil icon next to Header or Footer (up to you)
  4. In the right sidebar, toggle on Social network links
  5. In the modal that appears, click More Networks
  6. In the WhatsApp field, paste in the URL (e.g. https://api.whatsapp.com...) that you created in step 1
  7. Click Save
  8. In the top right toolbar, click Publish

Once published, visitors can click the link to launch a WhatsApp to chat with you. Note, you can optionally also add the WhatsApp link to a button or elsewhere in your site, if you prefer.

Note: Be sure to test your link on both mobile and desktop to confirm it works smoothly.
