Finally, you can always delete your website if you're starting over or no longer using. --- ### How do I access the website editor? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-can-i-improve-my-google-search-rank We, Solo, do a number of things automatically to improve your SEO but there are some recommended steps that we encourage all customers to do. Connect a custom domain. Sites with a custom domain can rank higher on Google. Also, by connecting a custom domain, Solo will generate a sitemap.xml file for you which can help with Google's crawlers. In Designer, click Settings → find Custom domain → click Connect. !Settings panel showing the Custom domain section with the Connect button highlighted Connect Google Search Console (GSC). To connect GSC in Solo, we require that you have a custom domain connected. Once GSC is set up, you can see how much traffic Google is driving to your website and what keywords are driving most of that traffic. > Third-party step — Follow the step-by-step guide in How do I connect Google Search Console? which walks you through the Google Search Console UI and Solo's Manage Domains DNS settings. Submit your site to Bing's Webmaster Tools. Many AI chat services are using Bing's search engine for their AI and so being included here increases the chance that your website will be included in an AI chat answer. > Third-party step — Visit bing.com/webmasters and follow Bing's instructions to add your site. Set up a Google Business and Apple Business profile. These profile pages will allow your business to rank in Google and Apple Maps searches. > Third-party step — See How to set up a Google Business and Apple Business profile for detailed instructions. Review the title of your website. Go to Designer → Settings → Page Title. Here you can edit your webpage title. Keywords in this title can make a difference in how you rank on Google. Try to keep it under 60 characters. In the Settings panel, scroll to the Search optimization (SEO) section and click Edit next to Page title. !Settings panel with the Page title field in the SEO section and the Edit button highlighted The Page title dialog lets you type a new title for your site. !Page title edit dialog showing the current title with Save and Cancel buttons Add more details to your website. Adding more services, an FAQ, articles and more provides more content for Google to use to rank your website. If your business, adding contact hours can also make a difference. It's also good practice to use your keywords in Headings on your page. In the Designer toolbar, click Sections to browse and add new content sections (Services, FAQ, Articles, Contact, etc.). !Designer toolbar with the Sections button highlighted, showing the sections panel open with available sections to add Link to your website from your other social sites. To rank higher on Google, you want to boost your domain authority. Linking to your website from your Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, blog or other pages may help. Request reviews and comments from your customers by sharing a link to your business page from Yelp, Google, Apple or other. Google likes real reviews on your business pages so each review helps. If you've set-up the Newsletter section on Solo to collect emails, you can download your customer emails via Settings → Export CSV, so you can then send a batch email. In the Settings panel, scroll to the bottom and click Export Contacts to download your customer email list as a CSV. !Settings panel showing the Export Contacts section with the Export Contacts button highlighted Link between your pages on your website. Step 1: Create a Google Ads account Go to ads.google.com and sign in with your Google account. Follow the setup wizard to create your first campaign. When it asks for your website URL, enter your Solo site address (e.g. soloist.ai/yourhandle or your custom domain if you have one connected). Step 2: Verify your website Google Ads may ask you to verify that you own the website. When given a choice of verification method, use the DNS verification option, not the file upload option. Here's why: Solo does not give you direct access to your site's file system, so uploading a verification file is not possible. DNS verification works through your domain registrar and does not require any changes to your Solo website. To verify via DNS: In Google Ads, choose the Domain Name Server (DNS) verification method. Google will give you a TXT record to add to your domain (it looks like google-site-verification=XXXX). Log in to your domain registrar (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, or wherever you bought your domain). Go to your domain's DNS settings and add a new TXT record with the value Google provided. Save the record. DNS changes can take a few minutes to a few hours to propagate. Go back to Google Ads and click Verify. If you bought your domain through Solo, you can manage your DNS records by going to the designer, opening Settings, and navigating to your domain settings. Note: You need a custom domain connected to your Solo site to use DNS verification. If you are still on a Solo subpath (e.g. soloist.ai/yourhandle), you won't have access to DNS settings. --- ### What does Solo do to make your sites more accessible? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/what-should-i-do-if-my-website-is-flagged-by-a-security-or-phishing-tool On rare occasions, your Solo custom domain website may get falsely flagged as an unsafe website by an anti-virus tool such as Norton, AVG, or Avast. This can happen for a number of reasons, including being a newly registered domain, a false user report, or just simply an error by their automated systems. If your Solo website has been flagged: Submit a dispute Check to see if the vendor has a way to dispute. For example: AVG: see here Avast: submit a dispute here Avira: submit a dispute here Norton: see this link Microsoft Edge: you can dispute it from the page itself, read more here Xfinity: submit a dispute here NordVPN: submit a dispute here, select Report a website / application issue If you're not sure what the link is to dispute your false inclusion, please Google search and you'll usually find a way to dispute. Once you submit your dispute, it is usually resolved within a few days. Check other services You may also want to check that your website is not listed on any other services that may flag it as unsafe. To do so, visit VirusTotal and the Google Safe Browsing page. At these links, you can enter your custom domain Solo website and see if you're listed as unsafe on any other provider. If so, we suggest finding their link to dispute and submitting your website. URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/can-i-add-custom-scripts-to-my-website Solo allows you to add a custom script to the ` section of your website. This feature requires a Pro or Grow plan and a connected custom domain. With custom scripts, you can extend your Solo website with functionality such as a chatbot, animations, analytics or other apps. We currently have tested with a range of example scripts but are continuing to test with more. The head code field supports up to 10,000 characters. In addition to tags, you can also use and tags (e.g. to load external stylesheets or fonts). Note: Custom scripts require a connected custom domain and cannot be previewed via the Preview button in the top toolbar nor on your soloist.ai/handle. They will only be loaded on your custom domain (e.g. yourdomain.com). You can add a custom script to your Solo website by following the steps below: Visit the designer In the top toolbar, click Settings !Settings button highlighted in the Solo designer top toolbar In the Settings right sidebar, scroll down, and toggle on Custom code !Custom code toggle highlighted in the Settings sidebar In the modal that appears, you can add your custom code (e.g. ) Click Save In the right top toolbar, click Publish Your browser does not support the video tag. Where is the custom code inserted? The custom code or script will be inserted into the section of your website for all pages. If you wish to insert custom code directly into a section of your website, you can use the code embed section. Do async and defer attributes work? Yes, async and defer attributes should work. What about CORS? We do enforce CORS. You can try adding the "no-cors" option to your fetch calls, but keep in mind that it has limited usefulness since you won't be able to read the response. This mode is mostly helpful when the request is used for things like tracking or analytics, where the response data isn't needed. CDNs and other image hosting providers often add the header "access-control-allow-origins: *" and so they are not impacted by CORS. Can I add custom CSS? You can also link to externally hosted CSS files to change the styling of your website, but this may yield mixed results. If your custom doesn't work, please contact us at support@soloist.ai and we may investigate. URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/can-i-embed-code-into-a-section-of-my-website You can add a range of HTML, CSS, or JS code embeds (e.g. Eventbrite, Stripe, or Tally) that would be self-contained within a section of your Solo website and we are continuing to test with more examples. You can embed custom code (e.g. `) into a section of your Solo website by following the steps below: Visit the designer In the top toolbar, click Sections In the Sections right sidebar, click Add section Double click the Code embed section in the modal to add it to your website In the designer area, scroll down to the Code embed, and hover over the section Click Edit section In the Code embed right sidebar, you can type or paste in your code. In the right top toolbar, click Save Draft Try previewing your site before you click Publish` to make sure you're happy with the expected result. !Animated walkthrough showing how to add Code embed section Note: You can add up to 6 Code embed sections to your website. Each code embed supports up to 100,000 characters. Certain script tags provided by third-party providers can inject certain styling or code that will impact your website (e.g. causing unintended scrolling behaviour). Please verify the type of script and provider before adding it to your website. If your embed doesn't work, we suggest uploading your code to Netlify Drop and testing with JSBin. If your custom code displays there correctly but not in Solo, then please contact us at support@soloist.ai and we will investigate. Generate a snippet Not sure what to paste? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-can-i-add-a-chatbot-to-my-website You can use third-party chatbot providers (e.g. Tawk.to, Zendesk, or Hubspot) to create your chatbots. Those providers will often provide some custom `` or embed code that you can add to your website's head section. Note: Adding custom head scripts requires a Pro or Grow plan and a connected custom domain. If you have trouble adding the code to your Solo website, please contact us at support@soloist.ai. --- ### I'm getting a cross-origin request error with my embed code URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/im-getting-a-cross-origin-request-error-with-my-embed-code The Embed section in Solo renders your code in an iframe and is served from embed.soloist.ai. If you are seeing this error, it usually means that your embed code is trying to run a script from a website host that is different to the Solo host, which is expected. To mitigate this issue, you will want to update your script and to add a "no-cors" parameter and you may want to use the assistance of ChatGPT or other. This will make the script ignore this security safeguard and allow it to run. --- ## Custom Domain ### Can I connect a subdomain to Solo? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/can-i-connect-a-subdomain-to-solo No. Solo does not currently support connecting a subdomain (e.g. subdomain.domain.com) versus the domain itself (e.g. domain.com). --- ### Do I need to set up an SSL certificate? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/do-i-need-to-set-up-an-ssl-certificate No. When connecting a custom domain, Solo will automatically configure a free SSL certificate and handle certificate renewals as required. My domain is connected but I see an SSL error If your domain is connected to Solo but your browser shows a security or certificate error such as SECERRORUNKNOWNISSUER, SSLERRORBADCERTDOMAIN, NET::ERRCERTAUTHORITYINVALID, or a "Your connection is not private" warning, the SSL certificate could not be renewed. This usually means the DNS records were changed after the domain was first connected and are now incorrect, so the certificate can no longer be verified. To fix it: Disconnect your custom domain from your Solo site. Check your DNS records at your registrar and correct any that were changed (see how to edit your DNS records). Reconnect your custom domain and confirm your DNS records are correct. Solo issues a fresh SSL certificate automatically once the domain verifies. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, though they are usually faster. If you are still having difficulty, email support@soloist.ai with your domain name and we can manually disconnect it so you can restart the connection process. --- ### How do I connect a custom domain to my website? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-do-i-connect-a-custom-domain-to-my-website A custom domain is a personalized address for your business such as www [dot] my-cool-website [dot] com. Generally, websites with custom domains receive more traffic, get more leads, and customers. If you do not have a custom domain, you can buy one directly in Solo with Find a Domain, or purchase one from another registrar (e.g. Namecheap). The number of custom domains you can connect depends on your plan. See pricing for details. Both website owners and editors can connect custom domains. Note: Connecting a custom domain requires a Pro or Grow plan. If you're on the Free plan, you won't see the Connect option next to Custom domain in Settings — upgrade your plan first, then follow the steps below. To connect your custom domain for free to your Solo website, we offer an automatic and manual method. Connect your domain - automatic method Please follow the steps below: Visit the designer !Solo designer interface showing the main editing screen In the top toolbar, click Settings !Settings button highlighted in the top toolbar In the Settings right sidebar, next to Custom domain, click Connect !Connect button next to Custom domain in the Settings sidebar A modal will appear. Note, if you have not yet published your Solo website with a Solo handle (eg https://soloist.ai/YourWebsiteName), you will be asked to do this first. Once this is completed, you can then proceed to connect your custom domain so your website can be visited by that custom domain address. If you already have a custom domain, click Connect. !Custom domain connection modal with Connect and Browse options If you do not have a custom domain, click Find a Domain to search for and buy one through Solo. See How to buy a domain with Solo. !Find a Domain option in the custom domain modal Click Continue !Continue button in the custom domain setup modal Type in your domain name (e.g. yourdomain.com), then click Continue !Domain name input field for entering your custom domain Solo will now attempt to identify your DNS provider (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap) If Solo is able to detect the DNS provider for your domain, you will be presented with a screen to log into your DNS provider, so we can setup your DNS records automatically !DNS provider login screen showing Cloudflare authentication Note: In the image above, the example domain was registered/managed at Cloudflare. You may see a different DNS provider (e.g. GoDaddy, IONOS...). If we are unable to detect your DNS provider, scroll the list to find and click on your DNS provider. If you do not see your DNS provider in the list, click the Go to our manual setup option at the bottom of the list and scroll to the instructions below in this article where we detail the steps for the "manual method." !DNS provider selection list with Go to our manual setup option at bottom After logging-into your DNS provider, you can click Continue. Solo will automatically add the DNS records to point your custom domain to your Solo website. You will see a success message. Click Ok. You will return to Solo and in the sidebar, you will see that Solo has begun the connection process. !Custom domain connection initiated showing success message !Custom domain connection in progress status in Settings sidebar The connection process may take up to 48 hours to complete but often faster. Note: If after 48 hours or sooner, the custom domain connection was unsuccessful (where you observe the message Connection not established in the custom domain area in Settings right sidebar), you can try again by clicking Re-Configure or alternatively re-try via the manual method below. If you need help from a more technical friend, you can invite them to edit your website so they can set up your custom domain. You can continue to access your website at your soloist.ai/handle or the custom domain you just connected. Note: When connecting your domain via the manual method, as mentioned above, please delete any pre-existing A or AAAA or CAA records as they may conflict with Solo. We will attempt to do this for you in the automatic connection process but we do not do this in the manual method. We also suggest after a few hours, if the connection has not completed, that you verify your DNS records using the Google DIG tool. At that website, enter your custom domain (eg mydomain.com) and click the "A" tab and the "TXT" tab. Confirm that the DNS records shown match what Solo expects. Read more here. If you have additional difficulty with the custom domain connection process, some common troubleshooting steps are provided here. If you still have issues, you can contact support@soloist.ai. Note, we do not have access to your DNS provider and cannot update or change your records for you. If you contact support, please provide your Solo website handle (e.g. soloist.ai/handle), the name of your custom domain and a screenshot of the custom domain connection status that appears in the Settings right sidebar. Please also make sure you've checked your domain with the Google DIG tool mentioned earlier and that the expected DNS records are being shown as Solo would expect. If not, we suggest contacting support at the DNS provider or domain registrar website. Connect your domain - manual method Please follow the steps below: Visit the designer In the top toolbar, click Settings In the Settings right sidebar, next to Custom domain, click Connect A modal will appear. If you already have a custom domain, click Connect. Note, if you do not have a custom domain, click Find a Domain to search for and buy one through Solo. See How to buy a domain with Solo. Click Continue Type in your domain name (e.g. yourdomain.com) Solo will now attempt to identify your DNS provider (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap) If Solo is able to detect the DNS provider for your domain, you will be presented with a screen to log into your DNS provider, so we can setup your DNS records automatically. You will want to ignore this and click go to our manual setup under the blue Continue button. If you don't see this option, click the Back arrow, scroll to the bottom of the DNS provider list and click Go to our manual setup option. If we are unable to detect your DNS provider, scroll to the bottom of the list, click the Go to our manual setup option. !Manual setup link option below the Continue button In another browser tab, you will want to visit the website for your DNS provider also known as a domain registrar. If you're not clear where this is, it is usually the place where you purchased your domain name. You will need to login to that website and visit the screen where you can manage the DNS records for your owned domain. If you're not able to find that screen, please contact support of the company that owns your domain name and they can usually assist. Now, go back to Solo and begin to copy the values for the A, CNAME, and TXT DNS records and paste into the DNS management screen at your DNS provider's website. You will want to enter each of these values into your DNS provider's screen exactly as shown. If you have any existing A records for your domain at the DNS management screen at your DNS provider's website, you will want to delete those as they may conflict with Solo. !DNS records display showing A, CNAME, and TXT records with Copy buttons Once you are complete, click the I have copied 0/3 records in Solo. This button will become active after you have clicked Copy for each value. If you find this process difficult, we suggest inviting a colleague or tech buddy as an editor to your Solo website so they can connect the custom domain. !I have copied records button showing progress tracker After you see a success message and click Ok. The connection process has begun. See the Custom domain connection progress in the right sidebar and allow up to 48 hours for the connection to complete --- ### How do I disconnect my custom domain? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-do-i-disconnect-my-custom-domain If you have connected a custom domain to your Solo website, both owners and editors can follow the steps below to disconnect it: Visit the designer In the top toolbar, click Settings In the Settings right sidebar, next to Custom domain, click Configure In the Custom domain modal that appears, click Disconnect In the confirmation modal, click Disconnect to confirm. When your custom domain is disconnected, your website visitors can still access your website from your soloist.ai/handle. --- ### How do I set up custom emails with my custom domain? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-to-setup-custom-emails-with-my-custom-domain You can setup a custom email on your custom domain by using third-party email hosting vendors (e.g. Google Workspace or Zoho). You will be asked to provide the name of your custom domain and then some instructions to configure your custom domain. Upon completion, you will now have an email address associated with your custom domain (e.g. hello@yourdomain.com). Note: Solo is not an email hosting service. --- ### How do I update my domain contact information? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/updating-domain-contact-information A domain has four contact roles: Registrant, Admin, Technical, and Billing. Open the designer. See How do I connect a custom domain to my website?. Can I transfer a domain away from Solo? Not at the moment. --- ### How to edit my domain DNS records URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-to-edit-my-domain-dns-records For a domain you bought through Solo, you can view and add your own DNS records. Open the designer. Click the account menu at the top right, then click Manage Domains. Open your domain and go to the DNS Records tab. Solo manages and locks three records so your site keeps working: the A, CNAME, and TXT records. You can't edit those. You can add your own records, for example: MX records to use the domain for email. Other records as needed (A, AAAA, CNAME, SRV, and so on). TTL controls how long a record is cached, from 300 to 86,400 seconds. Leave the default unless you have a reason to change it. --- ### I do not see the option to connect a custom domain URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/i-do-not-see-the-option-to-connect-a-custom-domain To connect a custom domain to your Solo website, please follow the steps here. Custom domains require a Pro or Grow plan Connecting a custom domain is a feature available on the Pro and Grow plans. If you are on the Free plan, the custom domain connect option will not be visible in Settings. To upgrade your plan, visit soloist.ai/pricing. Still not seeing the option after upgrading? If you do not see the setting to connect a custom domain in Solo Settings after upgrading, please make sure you have enabled and allowed Cookies for the Solo website. After enabling this, please refresh the tab or reopen Solo into a new tab and you should now see the setting to connect a custom domain. --- ### What happens to my soloist.ai link after I connect a custom domain? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/what-happens-to-my-soloist-ai-link-after-connecting-a-custom-domain When you connect a custom domain to your Solo website, your original soloist.ai/ link doesn't disappear but we change how search engines see it. Your soloist.ai/handle link stays live You can still type or share your soloist.ai/ link and it will load your site, just like before. We keep it accessible in case you ever disconnect your custom domain, you will still be able to access your soloist.ai address. What changes for Google and other search engines While the link stays reachable for anyone who has it, we hide it from search engines in three ways: Noindex meta tag — we add a tag to the soloist.ai/ page that tells Google and other crawlers not to include it in their index. Canonical tag points to your custom domain — this tells search engines that your custom domain is the "real" address for the page. Any SEO signals (links pointing in, ranking history) accrue to the custom domain, not the soloist.ai URL. Removed from the sitemap — your soloist.ai/ URL is taken out of our sitemap, so search engines aren't pointed at it for crawling. The result: from a search engine perspective, your custom domain is the only visible version of your site. The soloist.ai/ URL is invisible to Google and others but will still work for anyone who types it directly. Note, if your soloist.ai/<handle> link is already indexed, it will eventually disappear from the Google index. --- ### Why can't I buy a custom domain in my country? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/i-cant-buy-a-custom-domain-in-my-country Solo Domains is supported in most of the world but there are some countries it does not support. In this case, you can still connect your custom domain to Solo but you will have to purchase your custom domain from another registrar. If you have difficulty with this, please contact us at support@soloist.ai and we can provide further tips. --- ### Why is my custom domain not successfully connecting? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/my-custom-domain-did-not-successfully-connect import { DNSChecker } from '@/components/DNSChecker'; If you receive an error email indicating that Solo was unable to successfully connect your custom domain or see a message like below in Settings, then we ran into an issue. !Custom domain connection not established error There are a few reasons your custom domain may not have connected on the first attempt. Some of the most common reasons are below. Note, it can take up to 48 hours for the domain connection process to complete so the below tips are only if you see an error or receive an error email: For reference, here are the DNS values: | Record | Host Name | Value | |--------|-----------|-------| | A | @ | 34.128.166.114 | | CNAME | www | sites.soloist.ai | | TXT | @ | custom value provided | Note, if you are manually adding your DNS records, you may need to set the Host Name to blank, depending on your domain registrar, for the A and TXT record fields if "@" is not allowed. If you're still having issues, we may have encountered some error on our side. Please email us at support@soloist.ai and we will investigate. You entered your DNS details incorrectly. If you entered your DNS details manually, please make sure you entered them correctly. You will enter a TXT, an A and a CNAME record. If there are existing A or AAAA records pointing to other non-Solo IP addresses, you will need to delete them. If there are existing CAA records, they should also be deleted as they prevent Solo from issuing an SSL certificate via Google. Solo now verifies DNS CAA records before attempting certificate generation, so restrictive CAA records will block the process early. Additionally, if an SSL certificate fails, Solo will automatically delete the failed certificate and recreate it on the next attempt. Please also confirm that there are not exact duplicate TXT and/or CNAME records. If you're unable to find your DNS records, you can click "Re-configure" or "Configure" again and restart the process from Solo. To check what DNS records are showing for your domain, we suggest using the Google Dig tool and entering your domain with and without the "www." and confirming the values look correct. You will want to look at the A record, CNAME record and TXT record values. If they don't match below, this means our system is not seeing the correct DNS records. Confirm that you are the owner of the domain. You can do this by visiting the registrar where you registered this domain and making sure you can log in and edit the DNS settings. If you bought your domain through Solo Domains, go to Manage Domains in your account menu to confirm ownership. Note, if you attempt to connect a domain that has previously been connected to Solo by another user, we may show an error as we need to do additional manual ownership verification. In this case, please email us at support@soloist.ai and we will get this resolved. Confirm a proxy is not enabled. Some DNS providers, such as Cloudflare, allow you to configure a proxy for the A record (shown as an orange cloud icon). You should turn this off so the record points directly to Solo. To disable the proxy in Cloudflare, click the orange cloud icon next to your A record so it turns gray, indicating the proxy is off. Confirm domain forwarding is not enabled. Some domain registrars allow you to enable domain forwarding. If it is enabled, please turn it off and confirm the DNS records are correct. You'll likely have to delete any extra A records that were present for domain forwarding. Pending verification. If you bought your domain through Solo Domains and your domain is waiting on ICANN contact verification: open the verification email and verify within 15 days. You can resend it from Manage Domains in your account menu. Certificate activation delayed. The SSL certificate is still being issued. This can take up to 24 hours after the domain connects. If it's still stuck after that, email us at support@soloist.ai. --- ## General ### Can I export my Solo website? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/what-are-some-tips-and-tricks-for-a-great-solo-website Building a great site is good for your business. Below are some common tips and tricks. Colors We've chosen color themes that we know work well together and for light and dark mode. You can view your currently selected Theme by clicking the Theme button in the top toolbar in the designer view. That said, you can still recolor specific sections by selecting a different background color from the Color switcher. Text and button colors will update automatically based on the background color selection. You can also choose custom colors, available on the Solo Pro plan. If you're interested in a sequence of sections with the same background color, like all dark or all white, toggle on the Bottom border setting in the Theme settings right sidebar to add a subtle horizontal line between sections. Font pairs Heading fonts with unique visual styles, and paragraph fonts are optimized for legibility. After selecting a font pair, there are still several simple customization options you can further make. Heading size Control the scale of all headings with the slider. Short headings can have more emphasis at a larger size, while longer headings may be more legible when shown smaller. Heading weight Thicker weights command attention, while thinner weights convey simplicity or precision. Not all heading fonts support this feature. Paragraph text editing Most instances of paragraph text have a rich text editor with bold, italic, link, and bullet list options. Some these best practices: Break long text into another paragraph Add links to direct customers to your scheduling tool, external blogs or articles, etc. Emphasize links or pricing info by making the text bold Condense ideas into a bullet list (keep text left aligned if using bullets) The Article section paragraph editor includes a dropdown to apply heading styles. Headings help organize long form text content into blocks. Make a good impression The first few sections, Header, Intro, and Services are the first ones your customer will see, and are your best chance to make a good impression. Different sections have layout options. Choose what works best for your type of business. Add links, social icons, to the header, but not too many as it'll look crowded. These links provide social validation for your business and can also be a way to connect them to other portfolios or posts of your work The initial website tries to create a strong foundation for headings and descriptive text but please edit and make it authentic to your voice and brand Try to keep the text in the Services section about the same size for each service Logo/company name Solo websites display your company name in the header and footer. You can edit this from Settings which you can click from the top toolbar of your page from the designer view. If you have a custom logo, you can upload it for use in the header and footer sections. A PNG file with a transparent background is recommended so that the logo can appear on different background colors. Choose a background color that plays well with your logo color for the best effect. Images Initially generated sites feature stock photos as a foundation to get you started, but consider uploading your own. Having your own pics can create a more authentic feeling and result in more business. Gallery section has options for a "Grid" and "Carousel" layout. Choose the one that works best for your type of business. Crop photos to show only the most important details. Consider using the "Shape" feature to mask images with fun non-square shapes. When using background images with a transparent overlay, consider selecting a color theme with a dark overlay and light text. Use the Photo Banner section as a visual separator between text heavy sections If you upload a custom image, use higher resolution images and the correct aspect ratio. Recommended image sizes and formats If you upload a custom image that you don't want cropped in any way, consider setting the style to "Fit". When to use image fill vs. fit Contact form Make sure to add your email address so if your customers submit into your contact form, you get the email of their message Collect reviews Reviews are good for your business. Add a link to the header or footer of your page to request Google Business Profile reviews from your customers. Custom domain Websites with a custom domain simply get more traffic. Custom domains display your brand, are more memorable and index better by Google. SEO To access SEO settings, click the Settings button in the top toolbar in designer view of your website. Within Settings right sidebar, you will see that Solo has generated a page title for you. If you edit this title, use words that your customer might use when searching for your website. For multipage sites, you can customize the SEO title and keywords for each individual page. In the keywords section, you can further edit or add words or phrases that a customer might use to search for your site. Use words or phrases that your customer might use but don't add too many, just focus on the most common ones. Finally, Search Indexing is turned-on by default but if it's not on, toggle this on to make sure your website is included in the Solo sitemap which Google and other search engines may use to make your site discoverable from search. Build trust with visitors A few simple things make your site feel more trustworthy to visitors: Use a custom domain instead of the default soloist.ai link. Add a Reviews section with real customer testimonials. Add a Logo Grid section to show brands, clients, or press you've worked with. Add a Team section so visitors can see who's behind the business. Add a Contact section with real contact details. Add an FAQ section to answer common questions up front. Summary Above are a range of common tips to make a beautiful site for your business. We sometimes feature sites in our upcoming newsletters and/or on our website. If you'd like to be considered for inclusion, please send an email to support@soloist.ai and let us know. --- ### What does Solo cost? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-can-i-design-my-logo Solo will create a simple text logo for your business but you may want to create your own logo for your website. If you're not a designer and comfortable with tools like Figma or Adobe Illustrator, there are other easy-to-use logo generators and designers available to help. Two that we like are Adobe's Logo Maker and Canva but we also suggest just searching Google for logo makers and trying the different tools. If you do upload your logo to Solo, some tips: !Example showing logo upload tips with proper cropping and formatting Make sure the image file is cropped close to the logo before uploading. Use a transparent png file for best results on a variety of header colors. Use a file that at least 200 pixels tall, to stay crisp on high resolution screens. Consider the color you want for your header. A dark colored header will need a light or bright colored logo to stand out. --- ### How do I use image shapes? Shapes are not enabled by default. Selected from the shape drop down menu. Shapes require Image "Style" set to "Fill". More about Fill vs. Fit Each "Frame" selection has unique shape options. URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/how-to-add-inline-images-and-videos-in-articles The Article section in Solo includes a Rich Text Editor that lets you mix text with images and videos. Instead of placing media only at the top of an article, you can insert images and videos anywhere within your text to illustrate specific points, break up long passages, or show step-by-step visuals alongside your writing. To get started, open the Article section editor by hovering over the Article section in the designer and clicking Edit section. The text area toolbar includes icons for inserting images and videos directly into your content. Adding an image Place your cursor in the text where you want the image to appear. Click the image icon in the toolbar. Upload an image or choose one from Unsplash. The image is inserted inline within your text at a 16:9 aspect ratio. Once the image is placed, you can toggle between two display modes: Fill — crops the image to completely fill the frame. Best for photos and stock images where some cropping is acceptable. Fit — scales the image to fit within the frame without cropping. Best for logos, book covers, or images where you need to see the full content. To learn more about when to use each option, see When to use image Fill vs. Fit?. Note: Solo does not currently support adding custom alt tags to images. However, Unsplash images automatically include alt text, and if you upload an image that already has alt text embedded, screen readers can use that. To learn more about what Solo does automatically for accessibility, see What does Solo do to make your sites more accessible?. Replacing an image To swap an existing inline image, click on it and select Replace. You can then upload a new image or pick a different one from Unsplash. Adding a video Place your cursor in the text where you want the video to appear. Click the video icon in the toolbar. Paste a link to your video (e.g. from YouTube or Vimeo). The video is embedded inline within your article text. Embedded videos allow visitors to watch content directly on your page without leaving your website. Replacing a video To change an existing inline video, click on it and select Replace, then paste a new video link. --- ### I still see my deleted image URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/i-still-see-my-deleted-image Please try clearing your browser cache or opening the webpage again from an Incognito browser window - as you might be looking at a cached version of your webpage. Visit the designer In the top toolbar, click Sections In the Sections right sidebar, click Add section Double click the Article section in the modal to add it to your website Hover over the Article section and click Edit section Type or paste in your menu items and prices. URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/my-characters-appear-jumbled-or-change-as-i-type If the text you type appears to change, rewrite itself, or look jumbled while editing your site, this is almost always caused by your browser's translation feature or a translation extension. We have mainly seen this when editing a site in a language other than English. The browser quietly translates the editor text, which makes it look like what you typed is being overwritten. How to fix it Turn off automatic translation for the Solo editor page. In Chrome, click the translate icon in the address bar (or right-click the page and choose Translate to…), then select Never translate this site. Disable any translation browser extensions, such as Google Translate or ConveyThis, while editing your website. If it still happens, try editing your website in a different browser to confirm. Your site's actual content is not changed. This only affects how the text appears in your browser while a translator is running. --- ### My published site isn't showing my latest changes URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/my-published-site-isnt-showing-my-latest-changes If you made edits in the designer but your live site still looks the same, your browser may be showing you a cached copy of an older version of your site. To force it to fetch the latest: Mac: hold Shift and click Refresh, or press Cmd + Shift + R. Windows/Linux: press Ctrl + Shift + R. Or open your site in an Incognito / Private window. If the Incognito version shows your latest changes but your regular browser doesn't, it's a local cache issue. You will want to clear your browser cache for your site and try again or try from another browser. If your site is on a custom domain (e.g. www.my-business.com), the live version is served through a CDN. After you click Publish, it can take a few minutes for the new version to reach every region. We have also seen some instances where this could take 10-15 minutes. Sometimes, it’s also helpful to try loading your page from a different internet connection to confirm that the site wasn’t being inadvertently cached by your internet provider. If you continued to have issues, please contact us at support@soloist.ai with your custom domain so we can investigate. --- ### The generated site isn't using the content from my existing website? URL: https://support.soloist.ai/doc/the-generated-site-isnt-using-the-content-from-my-existing-website You can create a new Solo website by providing a URL to your existing website by using the Create a website from a link page. Using the Create a website from a link page, Solo can: Extract only text content from your existing website to create a new website Extract any reviews or business hours on the link you provided Generate your website in multiple languages based on the content of the provided link Using the Create a website from a link page, Solo cannot: Read or access any webpages linked to your existing website Read or access any child or sub-webpages on your existing website Read or access any links that require a user to login (e.g. LinkedIn profile page) Note: Solo is using AI to read your existing website to create a new website and it can make mistakes or even fail. Note: Editing your business details only affects new AI suggestions. Text and images already on your site stay the same until you regenerate them. ---
